Having flown regularly with the national carrier for 10 years now, I was yet to have a comfortable, hassle-free, on-time domestic experience. Well, it happened this morning. Despite a busy airport and full flight, we left CT on time and with the assistance of a howling tail wind, arrived in JNB a full 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Here’s hoping it’s a sign of things to come. Although, after Chris’s Egyptair fiasco, I’m holding my breath somewhat reluctantly.
So the pre-trip group has arrived and despite the mandatory travel fatigue, all seem to be in good spirits. Jim & Nancy, Connie & Tom, Carole and Joanne have decided against resting, in favour of an afternoon tour of Soweto and Johannesburg. I waved them goodbye just a few minutes ago with plans for the 9 of us to get together later to discuss the pre-trip. With temps of 95 to 100 degrees in Vic Falls and Chobe, the next few days promises to be a fitting introduction to ‘suicide month’.
